Assistant Buyer / BuyerA buyer is needed to join an extremely ambitious house building business in the Surrey area that is at the forefront of the UK residential marketplace. The buyer will be responsible for procurement of materials and negotiation with suppliers so that housing projects are carried out on time and to budget. The buyer will oversee and evaluate performance from suppliers, and be responsible for improving efficiency at all stages of the procurement lifecycle. The RoleManage budgets for buying of all material purchases by working alongside cost reports and surveying teamsManage orders for plant hire, negotiate and monitor suppliersUndertake site visits, oversee site equipment, and monitor quality of site materials Monitor subcontractors, including measuring performance of materials and service and identifying where efficiency can be improved Prepare material schedules in line with design teams and instruction from site and production teamMange procurement process including supervision of subcontractor tendersPrepare data to feedback to senior management team and relevant stakeholders within the groupWork with technical and sales team to advice on cost and availability. Oversee invoice procedures in collaboration with the finance teamMaintain awareness of building regulations in line with NHBC standards. Attend and contribute to project development meetings. The PersonBuyer experience and exposure to procurement and material purchasingGood communication skills, both written and verbalExcellent ability to prioritise workloads and work well towards strict deadlines. Strong report writing skills and attention to detailAwareness of building regulations (NHBC)Strong IT knowledgeExperience of COINS or similar management systems.
