We have a vacancy for a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner to work alongside the team of Emergency Nurse Practitioners in the Urgent Care Centre within the Emergency Department at the University Hospital of South Manchester. The successful applicant will assist in the delivery of care and services to patients with minor injuries or minor illnesses under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse. Practical tasks that will be undertaken include: application of plaster casts, wound care and closure, bandaging, cannulation and venepuncture, recording of ECGs. The Urgent Care Centre operates between the hours of 8am and 10pm 7 days a week, and shifts are allocated accordingly. The essential qualification for this post is a foundation degree in Health and Social Care. Personal attributes needed are an ability to work on your own initiative, well developed interpersonal skills, motivation and enthusiasm and an ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. Applications may be considered from individuals educated to NVQ level 3 who are willing to undertake Assistant Practitioner training (Band 3 whilst training)
