 VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER:48 LRSVA17 RPA 088979OPENING DATE:7 November 2017CLOSING DATE:21 November2017POSITION TITLE:CARGO SUPERVISORPAY: £10.62phPAY PLAN:WS-6907-03CATEGORYFull time 39.00LOCATION/ACTIVITY:RAF LakenheathBENEFITS:Benefits include paid annual and sick leave and opportunity to join Group Stakeholder Pension Scheme.  For additional information contact the LNDH team on 01638 544955DESCRIPTION: You will provide supervision and support to a small team responsible for receipt and processing of all types of general and hazardous cargo received at RAF Lakenheath from commercial and military transportation providers.  You will also be responsible for maintaining stock level awareness and updating supplies as needed, and equipment needed to perform duties, checks methods of preservation, interior blocking, bracing, cushioning and exterior containers, and ensures fragile materials was adequately protected.  Identified overages and shortages against the commercial delivery note, identifies potential problems related to movement of both hazardous and general cargo through both the ground and air transportation systems.GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 1. It is highly desirable to have knowledge of receipt, movement and processing of all types of general and hazardous cargo.2.  Knowledge of packaging and preservation procedures.3.  Knowledge of the principles of organization and management.4.  Skill in planning, conducting, and evaluating hazardous/dangerous cargo training.5. Skill in recognizing inadequate packaging, labeling and situations that could violate federal and international transportation regulations and cause injury or fatality. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1.  May be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.2.  May be required to occasionally travel via military/civilian aircraft in performance of official duties.  Or attend necessary training. 3.  The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.4.  Will be required to be certified for working with and/or removing hazardous materials (training will be provided)5.  A full valid driver?s license is required for this position.MEDICAL/SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: Security clearance  ImmunizationsPre-employment medical FOOD HANDLERSDefence Barring Service (DBS ) certificateHOURS OF DUTY:Monday ?
