Care AssistantTitle:Care AssistantReports to:Care ManagerAccountable to:Operations Manager, Care Manager   Job Summary: To work within a team of caring staff in identifying and endeavouring to meet the needs of each residents in a way that respects their dignity and promotes their independence. Key skills: Previous experience in a care setting is preferable but not essential as a full induction and training will be provided.  An NVQ or Diploma in Health and Social Care is also desirable but not essential.  However, pay is linked to the candidate having achieved these qualifications. You will be fully supported by the Care Manager with an induction programme and appropriate training. Appointment of successful applicants is subject to satisfactory references and clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service. Hours of work: Various shifts available 36-40 hours per week; 8am-2pm, 2pm-8.30pm and 4-8.30pm.  Must be willing to work alternate weekends. Key Tasks: To provide skilled and appropriate care to individual residents. This will include:To follow and contribute to agreed training programmes and care plansTo help individual residents to develop their level of personal and social skillsTo participate in occupational and recreational activities and encourage residents to do so To assist residents who need help with dressing, bathing and personal care where necessary. To assist residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities including incontinence; help in use and care of aids and personal equipment. To work together with all other staff in maintaining standards in accordance with the Philosophy of Care of the Home To be responsible for undertaking a range of household tasks e.g. laundry, ironing, general tidiness etc. and additional cleaning tasks where necessary. To identify and discuss care needs with residents and other staff ensuring that resident confidentiality is respected at all times To accompany residents where required to facilities within the community e.g.; local adult education centre, swimming baths, shops, club, pub etc. To develop helpful, caring relationships with residents? families, treating them with respect, kindness and providing support and sympathy when required. To identify personal training and development needs and participate in the Staff Personal Development Programme. To bring to the attention of the Manager any inadequacies which may be to the detriment of residents? safety and welfare To be aware of responsibilities with regards to; Fundamental Standards as defined by the Care Quality Commission, Heath and Safety, Manual Handling, Fire Procedures, Risk Assessments and general policies and procedures. To attend training sessions and general staff meetings as required. To report any perceived dangers in the residents? conditions To cover the absence of colleagues during periods of annual leave and sickness. Any other tasks as may be delegated by the Manager or Deputy Manager.About us Tudor Lodge has been a family run residential home for the elderly for the last 22 years.  We are registered with the Care Quality Commission provide accommodation and personal care for up to 28 people. Please visit our website for more information.
