  ABBEY COURT JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title:            Social Care Worker Responsible to:Senior Social Care Worker Accountable to:Home Manager Purpose of the Role The key purpose of this post is to contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the care home service within the policies and procedures of ScotsCare Ltd. These duties are to be carried out in compliance with best practices as detailed in the Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice and the guidance issued by the Care Inspectorate. The Care Worker will be expected to demonstrate the following competencies while carrying out his/her duties: Responsibilities To assist in the direct care provision of all aspects of the Residents assessed needs, which may include; Assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living, e.g., washing, dressing and undressing. Participating in the care of the residents under the supervision of experienced staff e.g. bed bathing, pressure area, mouth care, and eye care. To assist the residents with their toileting needs, including continence promotion. To change beds, tidy residents? rooms and do light cleaning.  To empty aids, where appropriate. To assist with problems with mobility, including those of mobility aids, where appropriate. To help in the serving of meals and drinks, feeding those residents who are unable to feed themselves and ensuring that each resident receives the meal or diet that he/she has requested and is suitable for his/her needs. To help with the admission and discharge of residents, including listing of resident?s property/clothing. To convey relevant information about the Residents to the Senior in charge, in order that the individual plan of care may be regularly updated and appropriate care given, paying particular attention to any changes observed in the Residents physical or psychological condition. To ensure all paperwork relating to any of your duties are completed in a timely manner or as requested by Senior Staff. Assist in weighing of residents. Report immediately to the person in charge, any accident or untoward incident, which may occur to a resident or a member of staff. Maintain confidentiality regarding resident?s particulars. Assist in activities within the Home. To help to maintain a safe environment for staff, residents and visitors, through awareness of health and safety policies and by attending training as required.  To attend appropriate training programmes/courses as available, which will further existing knowledge. To undertake any other duties as required, in order to keep the Home running smoothly, as delegated by the Team Leader, Senior staff or Home Manager. Essential Criteria  Must have or be prepared to train and complete S.V.Q. Level 2. Must have previous and sufficient experience in a similar role, or express an interest in the post which will allow the interviewer to make an informed decision on your suitability for the post.  Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work both as a team member and on own initiative. Must be prepared to attend such training sessions/meetings as are deemed necessary by the management. Be able to carrying out any other necessary duties as agreed with Directors\Management Team Confidentiality 1.Must ensure that any information relating to residents acquired during the course of duty must be treated in the strictest confidence and discussed only within the home with the appropriate members of staff. 2.  Any information relating to staff acquired in the course of duty must be treated in the strictest confidence and discussed only with the Care Home Manager or, in his/her absence, with the most senior staff member on duty. This is not intended as an exhaustive description of duties and responsibilities and may be amended following consultation with the jobholder.
