Our client is one of the UK's leading construction and development companies. Having established themselves as a leading name, synonymous with quality, they have grown to be a successful and respected brand in the building, property development and construction industries, over the last two centuries. Our client work across a range of residential builds and mixed use schemes including student accommodation, PRS, residential apartment and housing.Currently they have an exciting opportunity within their Student Accommodation division, for a Design Manager, covering the North West and Midlands Regions. Regular travel to site will be required, projects are usually based in vibrant cities with a strong student scene. Due to their current workload the the first project you will be assigned to is a 60million+ build in central Sheffield. My client is looking for an experienced Design Manager who has worked on large residential build such as Student Accommodation, High Rise Tower Blocks, Care Homes or large apartment builds.Job DescriptionMain Responsibilities: The following tasks are not in priority order1. To attend internal and external meetings including chairing and accurately minute as necessary ensuring distribution to relevant parties.2. To mentor assistant design manager.3. Review design drawings in accordance with Building Regulations.4. Review design proposals from internal and external consultants ensuring most competitive and effective solution arrived at.5. Support Procurement Department in evaluation of alternative design solutions offered by subcontractors.6. Research and develop new products for alternative forms of construction.7. Monitor Health &Safety issues.8. Occasionally advise on Estimating schemes.9. Continue professional development.Knowledge, skills and experience required:Requiring education/ qualification to a level of NVQ 5/ Professional qualification or equivalent qualifications.Good knowledge of Building Regulations.Basic knowledge of AutoCAD design software course and Adobe Acrobat.Strong time management and communication skills.Good knowledge of Word and Excel.
