This Enterprise / Technical Architect role provides technical leadership and accountability across the Innovate UK Business Improvement and Change project and IT portfolio, ensuring the delivery of the overall enterprise architecture (applications, data and technical infrastructure) that meets both the immediate and forecast needs of the business.Working with the Solution Architect you will provide the technical expertise and authority to the technology work streams on projects delivered by in-house and third party teams in developing architectures for core transactional and back office systems. As Enterprise / Technical Architect, you will be accountable for on-going solution integrity and value for money, whilst managing design dependencies, impacts of change and alignment to the IT strategy. A key focus of this role is to ensure that the required technical dependencies and integration between different delivery projects are pro-actively managed, ensuring that technical requirements are accommodated within the backlogs for each project and delivered to meet the objectives of the Innovate UK enterprise architecture. As Enterprise / Technical Architect, you will have a vision for Government services and have the ability to communicate this to developers and non-developers alike. You?ll thrive in using Agile methods and enjoy working collaboratively with different departments and multidisciplinary teams. Above all, you?ll want to contribute to improving Innovate UK, which may sometimes involve challenging the status quo.As the Enterprise / Technical Architect you will:? Ensure that there is well defined and understood and documented enterprise architecture that encompasses all IT delivery projects of the Business Improvement and Change portfolio? Lead the Innovate UK Technical Design Authority to ensure that technical decisions are made in a timely way and in line with the overall enterprise/technical architecture, such that the delivery teams are able to maintain delivery velocity? Lead the design of technical services and identify and plan required systems integration, selecting necessary platforms and technologies to meet project requirements and user needs? In collaboration with the Solution Architect provide technical leadership and consultancy to both internal and external development teams, ensuring infrastructure is fit for purpose, whilst meeting time and budget restraints? Build and maintain technical roadmaps, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers and ensuring decisions by development teams align with the strategy? Actively encourage communication across multiple development teams to identify strategic requirements and dependencies? Enable a positive technical culture, applying Agile methods to development and completing quality assurance practices? Mentor Developers, setting standards and ensuring delivery targets are met? Assist Product Managers on the validation of estimated effort and technical implications of current user stories, as well as those in the backlog? Form relationships with external suppliers? Help enable the reuse of patterns, tools and components across the whole Government service landscapeRequirementsOUTSIDE IR35. Experience in managing inter-dependencies across multiple projects within a portfolio? Strong understanding of integration techniques and use of technologies, such as Enterprise System Bus. ? Strong software development and application architecture experience, with good knowledge of open source technologies, testing, database technologies and modern programming languages and Frameworks (e.g. Java, Spring, .Net)? Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies? Experience of scaling online services? Awareness of emerging security issues? Ability to read and understand solution design documentation? Understand how to prioritise work in a fast, customer-centric environment? Understanding of Agile environments, continual delivery techniques and DevOps cultures? Understanding of how to influence senior management and communicate with both technical and non-technical audiencesIt is desirable that you have:? A view of technology as an enabler of great digital services? An eagerness to influence how digital services are delivered across Government? Experience of cloud technologies, enterprise integration tools and extract, transformation and load (ETL) tools? Experience designing and implementing secure systems? Experience mentoring technical staff and managing stakeholders ? Experience working in a dynamic organisation with rapidly expanding users and changing requirements? An interest in forming Government best practices, standards and policies? Experience initiating projects, participating in workshops to gather user needs and building prototypes? A willingness to travel to client locations
