We are looking for a Head of Health &Safety, to join our Compliance &Risk Team situated within the Estates and Facilities Directorate. The post holder will be responsible for the systematic identification, recording, evaluation of risks arising from non-compliance with statutory legislation relating to the management of Health &Safety within the organisation and to minimise the Trust exposure to those risks. This will include the delivery of an effective and efficient service to the Trust capable of demonstrating high levels of compliance with health, safety, fire and environmental legislation. To secure improved uptake of mandatory training courses by introducing blended learning options to the organisation. The postholder will also lead on the Health and Safety external assessment processes for SfBH and the NHSLA Risk Management Standards. This would include interpretation of the current and any new legislative changesincluding the development of high level risk assessments and H&S guidance throughout the Trust. To provide relevant training to meet legislated needs, and where applicable to provide advice to the Associate Director of EFM compliance in the production, management and monitoring of a Health and Safety strategy, policy and learning needs analysis. The post holder will be responsible for line managing and developing the EFM Health &Safety team. Interested individuals should have: Extensive experience as a health and safety practitioner within a large organisation, preferably NHS, but others will be considered. Degree or equivalent level of study/experience in a risk and/or governance setting Computer literate. Ability to maximise the use of allocated resources in the achievement of set objectives Excellent communication skills and ability to discuss Estates issues with all levels of management Excellent understanding ofinvestigation methodology Excellent understanding of current health and safety legislation. Ability to enforce safe working practices along with comprehensive knowledge of policy and risk frameworks. This post sits within the EFM Compliance &Risk team.
