Job Description  Job Title: Care Assistant/Personal AssistantResponsible to: Registered Manager/Deputy Manager/ Senior Carers/ Support WorkersOverview:To care for and support younger and older adults with a wide and varied range of social and health care conditions and to ensure their needs (physical, emotional, intellectual, communication and social needs) are met effectively with dignity, respect and compassion. Key Responsibilities (non-exhaustive nor in order of priority): ˇ         To support citizens to lead as active, fulfilled and independent lives as possible.ˇ         To support citizens in their daily routines.ˇ         To encourage and support citizens choice, in respect of all aspects of their life. ˇ         To act as an advocate for citizens who may not be have mental capacity to make choices and decisions about their life.ˇ         To participate in a keyworker system for citizens.ˇ         To respond promptly to any call or emergency bells.ˇ         To be welcoming and professional to visitors (citizens relatives and friends and to health and social care professionals and any other personnel visiting the service (home) for whatever purpose).ˇ         To support citizens to maintain, develop and gain skills.ˇ         To ensure citizens are socially presentable at all times.ˇ         To ensure citizens have an appropriate socially stimulating environment.ˇ         To support citizens to experience social inclusion, community participation and have valued social roles.ˇ         To adhere to all organisation policies and procedures.ˇ         To adhere to a citizens care plan, behaviour management plan and PCP.ˇ         To negate where practicable risks for vulnerable citizens.ˇ         To support infection control.ˇ         To respect citizens possessions and right to privacy.ˇ         To be aware of all emergency and evacuation procedures for the service (home).ˇ         To meet the reasonable personal hygiene and personal appearance standards expected of an employee.ˇ         To protect the rights of citizens.ˇ         To contribute effectively to the operation of the organisation?s quality assurance system.ˇ         To care, enable and support citizens with all aspects of their personal care:-washing/bathing/toileting/ incontinence care/moving & handling/teeth care/hair care/dressing/undressing/feeding people when required/eating and drinking assistance/administering medication (once trained to do so).ˇ         To assist in meal time preparation and after meal tasks.ˇ         To ensure citizens with any aids (dentures, hearing aids and spectacles etc) are fitted, cleaned and in good working order.ˇ         To support, participate and engage with citizens in in-house and community activities.ˇ         To support citizens with medical or health care appointments.ˇ         To ensure emergencies are dealt with appropriately.ˇ         To undertake light domestic duties as the need arises.ˇ         To contribute to workforce development ?Supervision/Appraisal/Performance Development reviews/Staff meetings/Training.ˇ         To complete relevant and stipulated paperwork accurately, concisely, legibly and with objectivity.ˇ         To meet reasonable timescales to complete work and meet instructions.
