Closing date: 20 November 2017Job DescriptionResponsible to: Academic Strategic Lead, Commercialisation and InternationalisationResponsible for: No supervisory responsibilityPurpose of Post:The lecturing role is to predominately be a member of the postgraduate advanced practice team, working within the modules of the MSc Advancing Nursing Practice course. You will also be expected to contribute to the wider School portfolio which includes undergraduate education, commercialisation, scholarly activity and research.This exciting post carries a high degree of responsibility to promote excellence in advanced practice through innovative teaching, learning and research practice in collaboration with academic and clinical colleagues, across the health and social work professions.Principal Duties:Carries out designated teaching (e.g. via lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops and simulated practice) and assessment duties in areas of expertise or as otherwise required by the Head of School.Participates in the development and preparation of teaching materials.Provides tutorial and personal guidance for students.Supervises undergraduate and postgraduate projects.Develops and maintains expertise in subject areas.Participates in subject and course development.Participates in curriculum development and in particular contributes to the introduction of new methods of teaching, learning and assessment.Assists in the supervision of students as appropriate during their clinical learning experience.Promotes and markets the School and its courses to local, national and international clientele.Person SpecificationESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTSQualifications and Professional MembershipsWill hold a Masters degree in a relevant Subject/Discipline.Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Knowledge and ExperienceKnowledge of contemporary nursing practice. Knowledge of professional standards.DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTSQualifications and Professional MembershipsV300 Independent Prescribing Qualification.PhD; or consideration given to work towards doctorate in a relevant discipline. PGCert in Teaching and Learning or willing to work towards achieving this.Knowledge and ExperienceEvidence of scholarship and/or research outputs relating to advanced practice e.g. conference presentations or written publications.Candidates with limited/no lecturing experience can still be considered but will work to the Developing Academic.
