JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE:MEDICAL SECRETARY REPORTS TO:PRACTICE MANAGER Job role:To provide secretarial support to GP's and Healthcare professionals in the Practice team Job responsibilities:Produce medical correspondence as required by GPs, Healthcare professionals in a timely and efficient manner.Generating Choose and Book hospital appointments.Maintaining awareness of and communicating to clinical staff the referral pathways.Liaise with other doctors, hospital staff, patients and outside agencies to meet the patient?s needs and to co-ordinate the patient?s care.Dealing with queries - obtaining and imparting information in an efficient manner.In the performance of the duties outlined in this job description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carer?s, practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential.Respecting the privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of patients, carers and colleagues.Behaving in a manner which is welcoming to and of the individual, is non-judgmentaland respect their circumstances, feelings priorities and rights.Communicate effectively with other team members.Communicate effectively with patients and carers. This job description is not an exhaustive list and will be amended/updated periodically.
