Job Specification:As a case handler in our clients team you will have the responsibility of effectively managing your own caseload of defence and counterclaims civil files. Using their in-house case management system you will use your technical legal knowledge to handle files from initial instruction through to completion.Key Responsibilities:To advise clients on the best courses of action within the law and provide effective legal guidance;To efficiently and effectively managing your own mixed caseload of approx. 50 to 75 cases;To keep lay clients and insurer clients informed of progress;To comply with strict Service Level Agreements and Management Information requests;To work proactively to settle civil cases whilst possessing a commercial perspective when handling counterclaim files given the potential conflict of interest;To work proactively to seek to resolve criminal cases on best terms possible;Effective use of the firm's case management system;Making informed decisions with regards to quantum/liability on civil cases and reporting to insurer client's for the purposes of reserve;Making informed and logical decisions and offering advice on prospects of defending charges on criminal matters;Person Specification:-Your law degree/LPC/CILEX (or equivalent) and previous experience of legal case handling will enable you to make informed logical decisions on the prospects of a case and aid you when deciding on quantum and liability. To enable to you carry out this role effectively it is essential have a good understanding of Defendant and Claimant handling practices in RTA litigation alongside interviewing techniques and experience of running a caseload of RTA personal injury cases. Knowledge of all claims proceeding under Part 20 of Civil Procedure Rules is considered to be an advantage when applying for this role, but not essential.
