  Personal Assistant - Job Description EE1 Area: Borehamwood Hours: 4 hours per week Rate of Pay: £10 per hour Days: Days and times to be agreed It is the job of a personal assistant to assist my son in all areas of social need, both at home and in the community. My son is 13 years old and has autism and ADHD. There is no personal care involved. Through personal assistance, he will be enabled to lead an individual and independent lifestyle in my own home. The personal assistant must be reliable, able to work flexible hours, must respect our privacy and understand the need for confidentiality in all areas of their work. The personal assistant will work under mine and my sons direction, is accountable to me and should always ask what his needs are, listening and acting upon my requests. It is important for the personal assistant to have a positive and encouraging manner. He or she must remain positive, calm, friendly but professional at all times. Being comfortable and confident around a large dog is a must. Experience would be an advantage. As family have a young Labrador.  Personal Assistant Duties The work may involve the following duties.  Some tasks will be daily, others weekly.  As his needs vary, it is important that the personal assistant is flexible about what the work involves and agrees to undertake any other reasonable task that I request which is appropriate to the position.           General Assistance To enable my son to undertake any chosen activity, inside or outside our home, by carrying out any other requests which, I or my son may reasonably make.To be aware of his needs, sensory or anxiety and when out be flexible in their approach to challenges and changes.Assistance with getting to and taking part in social activities.  Personal Assistant?s responsibilities The personal assistant has a general responsibility to: Have their own vehicle to take my son out in, mileage will be paidArrive at the agreed time, ready to workGive as much notice as possible if you are going to be late or are unable to comeDiscuss any problems with me (mum)only as soon as possibleRespect our possessions and equipment and to use them only with my prior consent
