Due to business growth, we are looking for a bi-lingual Purchasing Manager to support the business growth in design-led product development and service for our clients including UK national department stores, and join a small yet highly professional and friendly multi-national team with 7 languages spoken!You will be working both autonomously and with the support of the company director. This will be a challenging but rewarding role that will suit either a professional at the beginning of their procurement career or a recent graduate with the right skills who is willing to learn and develop their career with us over the long term.Responsibilities:Responsible for a stable supply of products with very specific designs, the suitable candidate will be the bridge between our product development team and our Far Eastern suppliers, communicating our requirement for new and innovative product designs.The candidate will need to be fluent in both English and Mandarin in order to translate and relay our product requirements between our UK account management and product development staff to third party China based suppliers and Original Equipment Manufacturers.As new product categories are identified, new purchasing policies will need to be designed and implemented, once up to speed after a period of training under the company director, the candidate will work autonomously to manage the critical path, from sourcing (as well as researching and identifying new suppliers), tendering and bidding, and contract sign off.The Purchasing Manager will represent the company when engaging with new and existing suppliers, and will lead negotiations between our buying team and suppliers. This will include negotiation of price and a suitable Service Level Agreement including quality assurance.Skills and experiences required:EssentialIdeally degree educatedDemonstrable work experience of liaising with international third partiesAttention to detail is absolutely essentialFluent in both Mandarin and English speaking and writingWorking knowledge in dealing with both British and Chinese businessesGood understanding of purchasing, sourcing and supply chainUpdateExcellent and confident communication skillsGood numeracy and IT skillsDesiredExperience of sourcing and purchasing products in line with a set purchasing strategyDemonstrable experience of managing projectsDemonstrable negotiation skills (this can be assessed during interview)An active interest in fashion accessories and designResearch and presentation skillsKnowledge of Chinese Manufacturing Industry, particularly OEMsExperience in trade shows is a plusThe office is based in High Wycombe, South Buckinghamshire.
