Research AssistantTransport Research Projects (2 posts) Fixed term - funding secured for 3 months (until 31 July 2017)5 hours per week minimum Why join us?An exciting opportunity has arisen within Transport Research Institute (TRI) within the School of Engineering and Built Environment. Working with the Director of TRI and other TRI staff, the main responsibility of the role is to assist academics with their research projects. These stretch across the spectrum from freight transport policy through public transport economics to traffic engineering, behavioural modelling, road safety and environmental analysis. Depending on your skills and the academics' requirements you will assist with methodology development, literature reviews, data collection, data analysis and writing up. What are we looking for?You will be educated to degree level (2.1 minimum) in a subject related to transport planning or engineering such as geography, psychology, civil engineering, economics, public health, environmental studies or town planning, with some experience of working on research projects (note that this could be in a voluntary capacity). You should also ideally have some experience in assisting with research methodology development and contributing to academic papers or technical reports. How will we reward you?SALARY: (Grade 4 GBP 25,298 to GBP 30,175 per annum - pro rata) + excellent benefits package. Whilst the post is for 5 hours a week minimum, the weekly hours are likely to be closer to full time, depending on the successful candidate's availability. Flexible working is available.
