FACULTY OF TECHNOLOGY School of Computer Science and Informatics Research Assistant in the Ethics of Robotics Part Time, Temporary 15 hours per week, fixed term contract (21 months from the start date) Grade E: 26,495 - 32,548 pro rata, per annum De Montfort University's Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility (CCSR; www.dmu.ac.uk/ccsr) is offering the position of a Research Assistant in the Ethics of Robotics. This Research Assistant post is funded by the European REELER project, an exciting interdisciplinary, project, involving 4 European partners which will develop the ETHICAL ROADMAP for responsible robotics. REELER (Responsible Ethical Learning in Robotics) funded by Call: H2020-ICT-2016-2017 (Information and Communication Technologies Call). We are seeking an outstanding Research Assistant to provide support to our successful team of researchers for the REELER (Responsible Ethical Learning in Robotics) project. You will organise and prepare interviews with roboticists in labs or companies as well as affected stakeholders. You will be expected to liaise with a range of different people and must have excellent communication skills. You will possess excellent written skills and contribute to the preparation of reports and project deliverables. You will carry out research in the UK but maybe expected to visit European destinations. You will be required to accompany the PI on short UK or European research trips. You will have a background in the social sciences or humanities and have experience or an interest in robots and Artificial Intelligence. You will expected to analyse findings and present these finds to a team of professors, researchers and stakeholders. You will have excellent communication and team working skills. You will provide Project support for the PI of the REELER project and other team members where necessary. You will possess an excellent general education and a minimum of 2.1 at degree standard. A MA or above in social sciences and/or humanities is desirable. The post is initially offered for 21 months from the start of the contract.
