The time is right for the Safeguarding Service to develop and this could be the right time for you to join us to be part of these exciting developments too.Safeguarding work has developed enormously in recent years. Additionally there are other improvement plans underway for safeguarding across the health community of Somerset over the coming year. We are looking for a professional with significant practitioner knowledge and experience of safeguarding adults or children or possibly both. The role will encompass Safeguarding Adults at Risk related work initially and in the future will also incorporate Safeguarding Children related work. Additional training and support for personal development will be made available to the right applicant.We welcome applications from people with a professional background and qualification who have a commitment to the ?Think Family? approach to safeguarding alongside experience of multi-agency working.The successful applicant must be an excellent communicator and will be committed to providing and developing top quality safeguarding services including clinical supervision, advise, support and the planning and delivery of safeguarding training across a large and diverse geographical area and to a wide variety of staff. Participation in clinical governance, monitoring and reviewing arrangements will also be part of the role.An ability to prioritise their time and work on their own initiative are essential qualities for the role. Collaborative partnership working with the Safeguarding Adults Lead, other members of the Safeguarding Team and multi-agency colleagues across Somerset are also key requirements.The post will cover Somerset and will be based in the Yeovil team office. The post holder will be line managed by the Safeguarding Adults Lead.You should be a first level RN, Midwife, Allied Health Professional or Social Worker, ideally with post-registration qualifications and preferably with adult mental health experience. Experience of service development would also be an advantage.This new post will work on occasions in the Bridgwater Police Centre. Therefore, it will be necessary for the successful candidate to successfully complete the enhanced level of police vetting required to work within the Multi Agency safeguarding Hub (MASH.)
