UNIVERSITY OF ABERDEEN SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, MEDICAL SCIENCES AND NUTRITION INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION FOR MEDICAL AND DENTAL SCIENCES SENIOR CLINICAL LECTURER LEAD FOR MEDICAL & PHYSICIAN ASSOCIATE ADMISSIONS AND FOR STUDENT SUPPORT MED033A This post is designed for a senior clinical academic to lead the recruitment, promotion and admission of students to the MBChB and Masters in Physician Associate Studies Programmes and to lead the Student Support activities across the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition (SMMSN).  Applications are invited from academics with experience in higher education. Prior experience in medical admission activities and in student support are particularly valued. We are looking for a colleague who will provide leadership and promote collaboration to deliver excellence and appropriate student support in the SMMSN and Admissions processes that are fair and transparent and of the highest standard. Separate Admissions Selectors for Dentistry, Biomedical Sciences and other post graduate programmes are responsible for recruitment in those areas, but collaboration and sharing good practice across the School is also expected.  You will lead the recruitment, promotion and admission of students to the MBChB and Masters in Physician Associate Studies The role of Lead for Admissions exists in all medical schools and carries a high level of responsibility, requiring representation of the University and the SMMSN in public and professional for and ensuring fair and transparent practices and procedures. Policies around admissions have a high national profile and the Board for Academic Medicine in Scotland has set up an Admissions sub-group to discuss the opportunities for collaboration between the Scottish medical schools.  You will represent the School on that group.  There is support from across the School but specific support for these activities is provided from the Admissions administrative team and a Deputy Lead for Admissions. In the Lead for Student Support role you will oversee the broad range of student support activities undertaken across the SMMSN to ensure optimal and appropriate student access. Support activities are delivered by a wide range of staff within the School who contribute to the medical sciences and healthcare programmes, and are provided in close liaison and with the support of the central university student support team. Your role will include chairing the SMMSN Student Support Committee and providing an annual report to the overarching School Teaching and Learning Committee.  You will be the lead for the longstanding Regent pastoral care scheme for healthcare students. Work with the healthcare students will be supported by two Deputies with identified time in their roles for support activity.
