We have a range of challenges to address in order to ensure that all vulnerable children, no matter where they live, receive high quality care and support. As one of the largest social policy departments, the Department for Education (DfE) has a vital role in ensuring that our system of children?s social care works for everyone. Children?s Social Care group, part of Social Mobility Care and Equalities (SCME) Directorate, is looking for a new cadre of Senior Executive Officers (SEOs) ? for divisions handling: children in care and child protection; safeguarding and family law; and social work reform. The SEO's will undertake important work programmes that are challenging, exciting and rewarding. They will work in high profile areas with a chance to make a real and tangible difference to the lives of thousands of vulnerable children, taking responsibility for their work and the delivery of key outputs. We are searching for nine exceptional SEOs to join us and deliver a number of programmes designed to improve provision for vulnerable children, prevent abuse and neglect and provide support for those who have experienced such abuse. Are you a critical thinker with experience of working in policy? Could you demonstrate your ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders? Do you have a track record of delivery? The teams with vacancies to fill handle work relating to: ? The core legal framework for child protection and safeguarding; ? Protecting children from specific forms of abuse; ? Family law and the Family Justice Board; ? Unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and children missing from care; ? Improving support for young people leaving residential care; ? The education, mental health and wellbeing of children in care; ? Policy on residential care and secure children?s homes; ? The Social Work National Assessment and Accreditation System.
