Location:  HallsSalary:   £19,850 to £23,557 Full Time PermanentClosing Date:   Tuesday 17 October 2017Interview Date:   To be confirmed Reference:  921417EWStudent Life Advisor (Nights)We are recruiting two Student Life Advisors for our new Student Life Team, within Student Services. You will be part of a team of staff who support the wellbeing of students on a 24/7 timeframe. Your role will be in the night team which works a 3 on 3 off rota, working 12 hour shifts from 6 pm to 6 am. You would be expected to work across multiple Halls of Residences locations within Southampton, as well as an additional Halls of Residences in Winchester. The team plays a significant role in enhancing the quality of the students? experience in halls and are a key part of their overall University experience.The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and relevant experience in a professional environment where they have provided a service to others. The role is one involving the provision of support to the student community in a variety of ways, ranging from arranging networking events and providing advice and education in life skills, through to responding to individual crises. A key skill will be having an understanding of boundaries: when to act, when to advise or when to signpost to other support services.We expect the successful candidates to be qualified to at least GCSE level or equivalent and have relevant work experience, ideally in an environment supporting other people. Experience in using Microsoft Office packages to manage, organise and report on datasets will be essential.The position offers an annual salary of £19,850 rising to £23,557 through length of service. There is also a further 15% shift enhancement in addition to this.
