The College has STEM assured status, four National Skills Academies for excellence in Retail, Financial Services, Sport & Active Leisure, and Hospitality and close links with employers, resulting in great opportunities for our students. We are looking for a Student Mentor to join us who can enable students to overcome individual barriers to learning. Providing a complimentary service to other college staff and others providing services to ensure effective support for students identified in need of support, you must ensure that identified students can access the help that they need to improve their achievement, attendance and / or behaviour; working with the Senior Tutor to identify learners who would benefit from mentoring.    Building and maintaining supportive mentoring relationships, one to one and in small groups, you must listen to and support students to resolve a range of issues that are creating barriers to learning and implement strategies and support learners with their self-esteem, and confidence, by establishing empathetic and supportive relationships. With experience of working with young people aged 16-19 who face personal, social and emotional barriers to learning and participation, you will have knowledge of the issues facing young people in today?s society and the ability to adapt approaches in order to meet the needs of vulnerable or challenging students.  Candidates should have experience of working with students who may be in difficult circumstances, distressed or who display anti-social behaviour.   Trafford College promotes, celebrates and values diversity and is committed to promoting equality for all. The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all learners and expects all staff to share this commitment.
