Student Services works in collaboration with the University?s faculties and other professional services departments to provide a comprehensive range of support to all our students. From the first point of contact to graduation and beyond, our team of over 300 professional service staff is committed to enhancing the student experience and ensuring that every student is able to make the most of the extensive opportunities available for academic and personal development. This involves working closely with all those who influence the student journey and includes supporting University staff in updating and expanding their own skills and knowledge. We operate Information Points around the University campuses, where dedicated staff provide advice and access to support from specialist teams on a wide variety of emotional and practical issues ? from money management, fees and funding, to course-related issues, faith, spirituality and general wellbeing. Our services also provide essential support for students with disabilities and learning difficulties, improving the quality of experience, smoothing the progression through the University, and ensuring that everyone is able to realise their full potential. We play a vital role in promoting real-world engagement, providing an integrated approach to careers, student enterprise and placement activities to prepare our students for successful futures. This ranges from assisting with opportunities for volunteering and arranging workplace experience and internships with partner organisations, to supporting leadership, creativity and innovation in those students who are aspiring entrepreneurs. Our staff includes professionally qualified advisers who offer careers information resources and one-to-one coaching. Student and Academic Services are seeking to appoint a part time Student Support Adviser on a fixed term basis until 31 December 2017. You will deliver a front line service to students and liaise with staff in faculties and in other professional services on a range of issues, including interpretation of academic regulations and other study related subjects. You would undertake face-to-face appointments as well as offering advice by telephone and e-mail. You will have significant experience of 1:1 advice work in a complex organisation. You would need to have excellent IT skills, including e-mail, MS Office Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Sharepoint to intermediate level. You will work 18.5 hours per week. Wednesday am, Thursday and Friday . Standard working hours are from 08:30 ? 17:00 Monday to Thursday and 08:30 ? 16:30 on Friday. There will be some restriction on taking leave, particularly in September and October but also at other times of peak workload throughout the year e.g. assessment periods and exam boards. Please indicate within your application whether you would wish to be considered for both posts. This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give our students access to everything they need to succeed ? with 200m being spent on new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation between now and 2020 to enhance our offer even further.
