Role overviewWe are looking to recruit a Waste Transfer Station Senior Chemist to join the team at the Tradebe Gwent Site.Main purpose of job:To assist the Gwent & Cheshire Waste Transfer Station Manager in the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the Gwent WasteManagement Centre. Providing technical support and basic chemical analysis for receiving incoming wastes and ensuring they areprocessed efficiently before being dispatched accordingly and safely.To deputise for the Gwent & Cheshire Waste Transfer Station Manager when absent from the business, maintaining site standards andliaising with relevant parties and departments, both internal and external, as required.Qualifications:Qualification in Chemistry (HND or above) or similarPast Experiences Experience within the Waste Management industry, Knowledge of SAPDuties/Responsibilities: * To carry out the analysis and/or assessment of waste at the facility. * To provide technical guidance to maintenance and admin staff regarding processing of waste. * Assist in co-ordinating the activities of operations staff as appropriate so as to ensure safe and productive working. * To assist in implementing process optimisation / improvements on site. * To provide ?hands on? assistance on site wherever necessary. * To liaise with clients (both internal and external) at all levels. * To forge and maintain effective working relationships with sales colleagues to maximise turnover and profitability. * To assist in ensuring appropriate process monitoring and to seek advice on process / regulatory issues as appropriate, the emphasis being on compliance with the Environment Agency Permit and discharge consent. * To assist in the control of commercial aspects of the treatment facility. * To assist the Gwent & Cheshire Waste Transfer Station Manager in ensuring compliance with the Company?s Health and Safety and business systems policies. * To continually strive towards the highest health & safety goals and promote the PROUD philosophies. * To ensure relevant records are maintained and adherence to systems and procedures. * To provide cover for other staff during periods of annual leave or sickness. To administer records relating to waste receipt, storage, treatment and despatch. * To monitor key financial drivers such as quantity and quality of residues produced, time taken in processing and resources used. * To foster motivation throughout the operations team. * To actively ensure housekeeping standards are maintained. * To assist in maintenance tasks where necessary * To assist site management producing detailed reports as required by business needs * To assist site management producing detailed monthly financials * To monitor and track attendance on site as required * Attend regular team and business meeting as requiredSkills: * Experience of Waste Transfer Stations * Good knowledge of the available treatment options * Good understanding of IPPC * Computer literacy especially in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook * Management/Supervisory training or experience
